Okay, this week's comic is for sci-fi gamers. Don't let the somewhat crude art of Schlock Mercenary put you off. The author, Howard Tayler is a devotee of hard sci-fi, and it shows in his writing, which is solid, self-consistent, and funny. Traveller devotees should take close note of the way Tayler structures his plots. He takes a premise common in sci-fi RPGs -- a misfit crew of space mercenaries -- and not only shows how to bring intrigue and excitement into such a setting outside of combat, but shows how to bring humor to the mix as well. Plus, he's the only webcomic author I know of that uses footnotes to good effect.
